What’s a topic or issue about which you’ve changed your mind?

I would say politics as a whole.

Ever since I was a kid, I spent a lot of time with my dad, who spent his free time in front of the TV screen watching various political news and debates. But it was our time together and I didn’t want to leave and pretend I wasn’t interested, so I stayed even though I was never really interested in politics, but more importantly, over time, I grew to be completely disgusted with it. When I saw what some of our leaders were allowing themselves to do, I developed a dislike and a negative opinion of it. I absolutely hated it when I knew the day or hour was coming when the political debates on TV would start and dad would be watching. He was always very upset about it too, but I suppose he wanted to keep up to date on who had what opinion on what and what new things the politicians were coming up with, so he was just interested even at

the cost of not hearing exactly what he wanted to hear. I was just an extra participant. In those days there were no conveniences to keep me entertained on the side while my dad watched this crap. I don’t think he meant it in a bad way, rather he wanted to fill me in from a young age so I wouldn’t be uneducated and out of politics. But I wanted to pursue more positive things, which honestly at that point would have been anything at all. I’ve always felt that way about politics because I knew it wouldn’t bring me anything positive and many times it’s better not to care because those who know nothing can’t do anything wrong.

But what is true is that lately I am more interested in political events than before. Not that I’ve gotten into it, not at all. I still have the same aversion to it. But I’m just more aware that politics, unfortunately, is part of life whether we

We still have democratic elections in which we appoint our representatives to represent our interests. We will not argue about whether this is really the case, but let us reckon that there is such an opportunity and it would be foolish not to take it. That is why, to some healthy extent, one should have an overview and an interest in participating in political events. If not actively then at least passively. So, despite the fact that I still dislike politics and maybe my eyes have been opened even more than before, I am trying to overcome this dislike and educate myself in this cateogory. I thought I would give up politics altogether in my life.
